As my self-imposed sabbatical from writing continues, I thought it might be worth while to let people know why I haven’t posted in a month and what the future of this blog will look like. It should come as no surprise to you that in the last month I’ve been busy researching and writing for my last quarter of classes as I graduate in June. But this has nothing to do with why I chose to stop writing, at least for the time being.
In the past year I have posted just over 50 times with just over 1,600 views. I am amazed that enough people cared that much about what I had to say to visit that much in the last year. So, after my last post I decided that this whole blogging thing, is actually worth while, not just for me, but for others. In light of that I wanted to take some time to rethink what I am doing here so it doesn’t become my internet soapbox or something else than what I want it to be.
When I began writing, I needed a place to work things out that were swirling in my head. Life was much different a year ago for me than it is now, as I’m sure is the case for many of you. This has caused me to ask the question, do I still need to do this for the same reasons and if not, then why do it? So over the last month I’ve quietly been thinking about this from time to time, hoping that the answer would come to me like it did Archimedes in the Monty Python Philosophers Football Final and a month later I’m still waiting for the answer.
So I want to turn it over to you, because you are the ones who read this stuff. I’d like for you to spend some time in the archives, reading old posts.
What did you like?
What didn’t you like?
What do you want to see?
What would you like this to become?
The goal for the next 12 months is to post once per week about something. It could be topics you choose, or stuff I come up with, but I want to know what you think about what you have read and where you would like this to go, because in the end, I know this blog isn’t just about me and working things out in my head. So please use the comment feature to start a conversation about what you’d like to see or topics you’d like discussed and Ill start formulating a plan for a relaunch in the near future. Thank you for the time you give up to read my stuff. Here’s hoping we can make that time worth while.
